Sample Preparation

Preparing samples involves the creation of subsamples with new label numbers, usually for the pupose of analysis or for further processing.

Subsampling Method records the way subsamples are taken:

  • Split samples are intended to be homogenous representatives of the whole sample.
  • Component samples (sometimes called stratified samples) represent a coherent subpopulation of the parent sample (eg. seeds taken from a whole plant, or soil sieved to a specified particle size).

The Process is a user-defined field that describes how each subsample was physically created, eg. "Sieved, 2mm" or "Dessicated and Crushed" (these can be created via the Add icon button next to the field).

As usual, clicking on an item will allow you to edit it, and you can also long-press items to see more options.
